Lace Pendant - Hand Cast - Cut Out Pewter
Selen Bayrak of Selen Design graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Istanbul, Turkey in 1997. Selen narrowed her passion of art at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she learned how to cast pewter. Selen went from freelancing her talents, to showcasing her original designs at local art shows and fairs. Selen Design emerged as a pewter jewelry company, and has evolved into a jewelry and accessory company.
Selen is continuously experimenting with various materials in search of undiscovered textures and tones, inspired often by nature. What once was just a jewelry company now features belts, cuff links, hair accessories, pins, watches, leather clutches and wallets. Although all Selen Design work starts as pewter, many pieces are selected for plating, with copper and 24K gold plate being the most popular finishes. Many pieces are adorned with fresh-water pearls, abalone shells, semi-precious stones, and leather. There are a variety of collections, and one of a kind pieces that keep the attention of sophisticated New Yorkers, cultured tourists, and refined stores across the country.
Selen Design accessories are currently exhibited in influential museum shops, specialty stores and selective boutiques throughout the United States. The artist frequently has a Kiosk at New York’s Grand Central Terminal, and this season will be her sixth year participating in the popular Holiday Market at GCT.
